Robert, I loved you in the movie The Great Debaters! You played a very significant role; one that I think will lead you to much bigger ones. So proud of you! I am a friend of your grandmother. I was in her production of Camptown Convention (I think that was the title) Anyway, I was the one who chewed tobacco and was over the eb-u-bacation committee.(smile) You were behind the camera that night. Come to think of it I also saw you in a play you wrote and directed. Memory is not all that great these days but it had something to do with folks on their way to hell. It was hilarious. One of the great things about Robert X. Golphin’s passion is that it transgresses race, age, culture, religion and more.
I know that your world vision is inclusive of all people everywhere and without question, how very important that perspective is in the magnificent world of film.
You’re the kind of filmmaker/writer/actor who understands that a miniscule moment in time to people in America, in Africa, Asia, Europe oh heck…Mars, is important and meaningful to those people of that culture in that place. All of us have stories. Oh, the colors may be different, the languages and even the dialect may not be the same. You’ve always been aware of that Robert, and that, my dear Sir is a masterful and honorable quality.
To all of us in the creative world (film, music, dance art, spoken/written word, etc) you are a force; helping us to recognize that we all need each other. Try making a film about the war without knowing anyone or even being able to work with anyone from or genetically connected to someone from the Middle East. One would certainly question our seriousness as filmmakers, actors and producers. Try making a film about the effect of the AIDS virus among young people –as you did at age 15 – without having done research or maybe even knowing someone “Stricken†by the disease? Not in this day and age! Not when AIDS is so prevalent. Robert, you were light years ahead of so many; even the experts in the field didn’t see that the AIDS virus would permeate throughout minority communities in urban America – how did you know?
Keep doing your dreams Robert –too many of us simply wake up, rub our eyes and call it a good dream. You don’t; you can’t; you Robert X-tra ordinary Golphin, make it happen.
Continue towards your destiny – the force has always been with you.

The Golphin's can do many things in life when it comes to the arts. I started to write at the age of five(5) from Georgia. Your Grandfather Sidney Golphin was my uncle. I have two books I've finished called "DEATH BY COLOR" AND "GOLPHIN RISE UP".
