WORLD PREMIERE OF ROB'S FILM A SUCCESS!!! - February 21, 2011

The world premiere of the award-winning "Punch Me" was held in Dallas, Texas on Sunday at the Marlon Riggs Film Festival.

The audience reaction was highly favorable.

The film's star, Robert X. Golphin attended the premiere via skype and had a twenty minute talk back with the audience.

Portions of the talk back were filmed courtesy of Blue Angel Entertainment, LLC and may be released at a later date.

The skype session was arranged by filmmaker Dave Bullis ("Game Over"), and "Punch Me" editor Christopher J. Montero.

ROB'S NEW FILM ACCEPTS AWARD - February 8, 2011

The opening night of the 30th Annual Black Maria Film + Video Festival took place on Friday Feb. 4, at the campus of New Jersey City University, in Jersey City, NJ, just across the Hudson River from Manhattan.  

"Punch Me", which stars Robert X. Golphin (The Great Debaters) earned awards recognition at the event.

World Premiere

The date is official! Sunday, February 20, @ 3PM marks the world premiere of "Punch Me" at the Marlon Riggs Film Festival in Dallas, Texas.

Awards Recognition:

The opening night of the 30th Annual Black Maria Film + Video Festival takes place on Friday Feb. 4, at the campus of New Jersey City University, in Jersey City, NJ, just across the Hudson River from Manhattan. "Punch Me" will take home the Jury's Citation - 2nd Prize.

Clips from selected films will be shown, and the national and international festival screening tour kicks off the following day. Times and venues for "Punch Me" will be announced at a later date.

Immediately following the opening night ceremony, the award-winning filmmakers will mingle and network at the official kickoff party.

ROB'S FILM "PUNCH ME" WINS AWARD - January 5, 2011

Robert X. Golphin's latest film, "Punch Me", has been officially selected as a Jury's Citation - 2nd Prize winner for the 30th Annual Black Maria Film + Video Festival, an event which tours annually to approximately 65 venues - museums, colleges, libraries, community organizations and other venues across the U.S. and abroad.

This international juried competition and award tour, has been fulfilling its mission to advocate, exhibit and reward cutting edge works from independent film and videomakers since 1981. The festival is known for its national public exhibition program, which features a variety of bold contemporary works drawn from the annual collection of 50 or more award winning films and videos.

Last night's world premiere of "Romeo & HIS Juliet", a film associate produced by award-winning filmmaker/screenwriter Robert X. Golphin, was lauded by the audience at the 2010 Reelblack Next Up Short Film Showcase in Pennsylvania.

 

The film is written and directed by Davis Northern, who starred in Golphin's super short film, "Immediate Plans".

The poster for a new film associate produced by award-winning filmmaker Robert X. Golphin has been released.

ROBERT LAUNCHES PRODUCTION COMPANY - December 12, 2010

Award-Winning filmmaker/screenwriter, and award-nominated actor Robert X. Golphin has launched his own production company.

Robert, who portrayed the role of Dunbar Reed in Denzel Washington's "The Great Debaters", has partnered with actors/filmmakers Sherrod Z. Knox, J. Knox, and Samuel Joshua Sauls to form Brotherside Entertainment, LLC.

Brotherside Entertainment, LLC intends to produce film, television, stage, and new media content. It will infuse award-winning talent with fledgling creative artists. The company aims to break down the walls that stand between individuals and their dreams.

Robert currently stars in the motion picture short, "Punch Me", which has just been announced as an official selection of the Marlon Riggs Film Festival in Dallas, Texas in February 2011.

Brotherside Entertainment, LLC is based out of Wilson, North Carolina. The company is currently in post-production on its debut film, "Un-Perfect", filmed in Pennsylvania. The film centers on domestic abuse, and stars Robert, Christopher Mann (HBO's "The Wire"), and Emmy Award-Winner Janet Conner Knox, among others.

ROB'S NEW FILM TO SCREEN IN TEXAS - December 7, 2010

"Punch Me", which stars award-nominated actor Robert X. Golphin ("The Great Debaters"), Brian Anthony Wilson (HBO's "The Wire"), and newcomer Elwood Idris Simon has garnered its first official festival selection.

The film was courted and invited by the Fahari Arts Institute in partnership with The South Dallas Cultural Center, Black Cinematheque Dallas, and Q-Roc Media, to screen at the Marlon Riggs Film Festival in Dallas, Texas.

The festival features independent creative works that address issues around sexuality and black culture.

Mark your calendar and make plans to attend. The festival runs February 18-20, 2011.

"PUNCH ME" SNEAK PREVIEWS FOR YOUTH - November 14, 2010

The cast and crew of "Punch Me" sneak previewed the film for a group of Gay, Lesbian, Transgender and questioning youth at the Attic Youth Center in Philadelphia on Friday evening.

SAVE THE DATE: ROBERT TO RETURN AS A SPEAKER AT N.C. EDUCATION SYMPOSIUM IN '11

Earlier this year, Robert X. Golphin served as a Keynote Speaker at the B.E.F.Y. Education and Networking Symposium in Wilson, North Carolina.

It has just been announced that he will return as a speaker for Generation B.E.F.Y 2011. Make plans to hear his words of wisdom on Saturday, April 23rd. 

An acronym for Black, Educated, Focused and Young, B.E.F.Y. is a movement that encourages the pursuit of higher education, and is designed to act as a deterrent and counter to the drug and gang culture infesting the black community.

Next year's event is in the planning stages so look for more information in the near future.

ROB'S FILM "INSIDE OF ME" TO SCREEN IN JERSEY - October 1, 2010

Robert X. Golphin's award-winning film, "Inside of Me" may add another feather to its cap. The project has just garnered official selection at this year's Downbeach Film Festival's Atlantic City CineFest Friday October 15, at 11:30AM.

The film stars Lauren Jane Krystofolski, who won "Best Actress" at this festival in 2008 for another project. That same year, Golphin was nominated for "Best Actor" for his role in "Beautiful Man In The Buff".
