Brian Jones-produced film premieres

From staff reports

A short film executive produced by late Bridgeton native Brian L. Jones will premiere in Philadelphia on Saturday at 7 p.m.

"Track Marks," a story of a young drug addict who must be detoxed by his friends or risk a grisly demise, will be shown at Reelblack Presents at The Point of Destination at Greene and Upsal streets.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for this open-to-the-public premiere event. Admission costs $5.

Jones, a Bridgeton High graduate, died on Feb. 15 at a Camden hospital due to complications from a kidney transplant surgery.

Son of Daisy G. Jones and the late Washington C. Boone, Jones was just 32 years old.

Jones, in addition to being the film's executive producer, also plays a supporting actor role in "Track Marks," according to a press release hailing the film's premiere.

The film's star and director Robert X. Golphin misses Jones, a friend he had worked with on numerous projects.

"He's more than just a talent," Golphin said in the press release. "We were friends and creative partners. We had so many projects in the works, and I hope to bring as many of them to light as possible. He wouldn't have it any other way. I know he's got books full of the stuff we were working on.

"I'm already motivated and focused, but Brian was the best producer any artist could have, and his remarkable energy despite his illness is all the incentive I need to pursue my aspirations with even more vigor."

Golphin is hopeful "people will come out to celebrate not only what he and (Jones) have accomplished, but to equally celebrate his life and work."

Jones co-wrote, executive produced and had a supporting role in the critically acclaimed short film, "Simply Untitled," which was screened or is slated to be screened at various film festivals. He also produced short films "Windows," "Coffee Thoughts," and "Private Jet," and feature film, "Acrimony."
