About the Book

Written during Robert X. Golphin’s undergraduate years, Abandoning Adam: Confessions of an HBCU Scholar is a raw, unfiltered coming-of-age novella told in the form of a fictional memoir.

Drawing inspiration from personal experiences and those of others, the story centers on a young film student determined to challenge injustice at a historically Black college.

Adam’s journey examines the tensions between finding his voice, standing by his convictions, and making sense of the world around him.
