Teaching

Robert X. Golphin is an actor, filmmaker, and teaching artist with nearly a decade of experience mentoring young storytellers. He teaches narrative and documentary filmmaking, television production, and collaborative storytelling across programs for students as young as 8 years old up to college age, including film camps, workshops, and masterclasses. Some of his youngest pupils have gone on to film school and/or returned to his program(s) to serve as alumni mentors.

 

Robert holds a BA in Theatre & Film and an MFA in Screenwriting, bringing both professional filmmaking experience and academic training to his teaching.

Teaching & Mentoring at Film Camp

​

(Documentary: Frames of Summer: An RSCT Film Camp Story)

​

This documentary highlights the latest season of Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre (RSCT) Film Camp, where Robert X. Golphin has served as Film Instructor and Technical Director for nine years. Students ages 8–14 collaborated on short films and developed their creative voices.

 

Several longtime students aged out, while others returned as alumni mentors, demonstrating the lasting impact of his teaching.

Community Film Program

This documentary highlights Robert X. Golphin’s work with students ages 7–18 in a community-based filmmaking program. He guided them through collaborative storytelling and hands-on production, helping them develop creative voices, technical skills, and confidence.

 

The program provided young people from underserved communities with access to filmmaking education they might not otherwise have had.

High School Film Workshop

Award-winning actor and filmmaker Robert X. Golphin led a multi-week weekend workshop, Introduction To Moviemaking, for a group of high school actor-filmmakers.

 

Under his guidance, the students conceived, shot, directed, and performed in a short drama-comedy, gaining hands-on experience in collaborative storytelling and on-set production. This snippet captures the young artists in action during the workshop.

Guest Lecturer, Drexel University Film Program (Feb 2025)

Robert X. Golphin delivered a career development and industry empowerment session in collaboration with Film in Color, a student-led initiative supporting people of color in film.

 

The session equipped students with actionable pathways to success, offering guidance on navigating the industry, building creative projects, and developing professional confidence.
